Taxonomy
Thereuodon was named by Sigogneau-Russell (1989). Its type is Thereuodon dahmani.

It was assigned to Thereuodontidae by Sigogneau-Russell and Ensom (1998), Kielan-Jaworowska et al. (2004) and Allain et al. (2022).
