It was synonymized subjectively with Spargoptilon by Rasnitsyn and Aristov (2004).
It was assigned to Strephocladidae by Carpenter (1966), Carpenter (1992) and Béthoux et al. (2010); to Ischnoneuridae by Rasnitsyn and Aristov (2013); and to Anthracoptilidae by Nel et al. (2015).
