Taxonomy
Sessiliventer symphytus was named by Rasnitsyn (1975). Its type specimen is PIN 2384/1328, an exoskeleton (body & wings missing abdomen), and it is an impression. Its type locality is Karatau-Mikhailovka (PIN collection 2384), which is in a Callovian/Oxfordian lacustrine - large siltstone in the Karabastau Formation of Kazakhstan.
