Taxonomy
Cupes ponomarenkoi was named by Kirejtshuk et al. (2010). Its type specimen is PA 6457, an exoskeleton, and it is an inclusion in amber. Its type locality is Oise amber, Le Quesnoy, which is in a Ypresian terrestrial amber in the Argiles d'lignite du Soissonnais Formation of France.
