Retifacies was named by Hou et al. (1989) [Sepkoski's age data: Cm Atda-u Sepkoski's reference number: 859]. It is not extant. Its type is Retifacies abnormalis.

It was assigned to Merostomoidea by Sepkoski (2002); to Arthropoda by Bambach et al. (2007); to Trilobitomorpha by Ortega-Hernandez et al. (2013); and to Artiopoda by Lerosey-Aubril et al. (2017).
