Taxonomy
Metrorhynchites grandis was named by Tillyard (1918). Its type specimen is Mitchell Coll. 20, an elytra (Fragment of Elytron), and it is an impression. Its type locality is Glenlee railway cutting, which is in a Pelsonian/Illyrian pond shale in the Ashfield Shales Formation of Australia.
