Taxonomy
Knemiceras triangulare was named by Benavides-Caceres (1956). Its type specimen is AMNH 27853, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Bed 8, Sihuas section, which is in an Albian carbonate marl in the Chulec Formation of Peru.

It was recombined as Glottoceras triangulare by Robert (2002).
