Assimulia (Assimulia) arta was named by Fedorowski (1987). Its type specimen is USNM 197067 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is USNM706x, Wolf Camp Hills, Glass Mountains, which is in an Asselian marine limestone in the Neal Ranch Formation of Texas.
