Taxonomy
Murexiella (Murexiella) petiti was named by Vokes (1968). Its type specimen is USNM 645893, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is TU 558 - Crescent Beach [Waccamaw Fm], which is in a Pleistocene coastal siltstone in the Waccamaw Formation of South Carolina.
