Taxonomy

Coilopoceras was named by Hyatt (1903) [Sepkoski's age data: K Turo-l K Turo-u Sepkoski's reference number: 1066].

It was assigned to Coelopoceratidae by Anderson (1958); to Coilopoceratidae by Hyatt (1903), Benavides-Caceres (1956), Parnes (1964), Cobban and Hook (1980), Zaborski (1985), Meister et al. (1992) and Chancellor et al. (1994); and to Ammonoidea by Sepkoski (2002).
