Nacella (Patinigera) oconaensis was named by DeVries (2007). Its type specimen is UWBM 98639, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is DV 1279-1, OcoƱa, which is in a Pliocene coastal gravel in Peru.
