Algericeras was named by Spath (1925) [Distribution: Lower Cenomanian; Algeria, Tunisia, Madgascar and Mexico.]. Its type is Ammonites boghariensis.

It was assigned to Schloenbachiidae by Spath (1925); to Mortoniceratinae by Kennedy and Wright (1981); and to Ammonoidea by Sepkoski (2002).
