Taxonomy
Altiatlasius koulchii was named by Sigé et al. (1990). Its type specimen is THR 141, a tooth (left [upper] M2), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Adrar Mgorn 1, which is in a Thanetian peritidal limestone in the Jbel Guersif Formation of Morocco.
