Tridentites was named by Schindewolf (1934) [Sepkoski's age data: C Vise-u Sepkoski's reference number: 2]. It is not extant.

It was assigned to Prolecanitida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Pronoritinae by Korn (2006) and Furnish et al. (2009).
