Prouddenites was named by Miller (1930) [Sepkoski's age data: C Mosc-u C Step-u Sepkoski's reference number: 304]. It is not extant.

It was assigned to Prolecanitida by Sepkoski (2002); to Uddenitidae by Korn (2006); and to Uddenitinae by Furnish et al. (2009) and Leonova (2019).
