Taxonomy

Propinacoceras was named by Gemmellaro (1887) [Sepkoski's age data: P Leon P Guad-u].

It was assigned to Prolecanitida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Propinacoceratinae by Leonova (1989), Leonova (2002), Korn (2006), Furnish et al. (2009), Zhou (2017) and Leonova (2019).
