Taxonomy
Leda stevensiana was named by Girty (1910). Its type specimen is USNM 155906, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Phestia stevensiana by Pojeta (1969); it was recombined as Polidevcia stevensiana by Hoare (1993) and Hoare (2007).

Hoare 1993Polidevcia with elongate, nuculaniform shape; beaks strongly incurved low, opisthogyrate, located about onethird length from anterior margin; posterior margin broadly rostrate; escutcheon distinct; lunule small, narrow, indistinct; surface ornamented with numerous fine, comarginal filae (5-6 per mm); hinge structure of eight chevron-shaped teeth anterior to beak and nine posterior to beak; resilifer not seen; large, suboval, posterior adductor scar located on umbonal shoulder just posterior to dentition; suboval, anterior adductor scar not deeply impressed, located near anterodorsal margin; small, oval, dorsomedian scar located on umbo; shallow to deep arcuate groove extends posteroventrally from umbo in internal molds.
