Taxonomy
Amundiptychites sverdrupi was named by Kemper and Jeletzky (1979) [DISTRIBUTION: Valanginian; Greenland, Arctic Canada.]. Its type specimen is GSC 61761, a shell, and it is a mold. Its type locality is GSC Loc. 93753 - Amund Ringnes Island [Deer Bay Fm], which is in a Valanginian marine siliciclastic in the Deer Bay Formation of Canada.

It was synonymized subjectively with Polyptychites (Dichotomites) bidichotomus by Bogomolov (1989); it was recombined as Polyptychites (Amundiptychites) sverdrupi by Alsen (2006).
