Siberiptychites was named by Kemper and Jeletzky (1977) [Sepkoski's age data: K Vala-l].

It was synonymized subjectively with Euryptychites by Bogomolov (1989); it was reranked as Polyptychites (Siberiptychites) by Alsen (2006).

It was assigned to Polyptychitinae by Jeletzky and Kemper (1988); to Ammonoidea by Sepkoski (2002); and to Polyptychites by Alsen (2006).
