Taxonomy
Trochus quadricostata was named by Wood (1828) [DISTRIBUTION: Late Pliocene-Recent; Peru-Chile.]. It is extant. It is the type species of Chlorostoma, Cantallocostoma.

It was corrected as Trochus quadricostatus by Philippi (1846); it was recombined as Tegula quadricostata by Veliz and Vasquez (2000); it was recombined as Cantallocostoma quadricostatum by DeVries (2007).

Synonyms
  • Trochus torulosus was named by Philippi (1843). It is extant.

    It was synonymized subjectively with Cantallocostoma quadricostatum by DeVries (2007).
  • Monodonta catenifera was named by Potiez and Michaud (1838) [DISTRIBUTION: Recent; eastern Pacific.]. It is extant.
