Thalassomedon hanningtoni

Taxonomy
Thalassomedon hanningtoni was named by Welles (1943). Its type specimen is DMNH 1588, a skeleton, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Thalassomedon type, Pritchett (DMNH), which is in a Cenomanian marine shale/claystone in the Graneros Shale Formation of Colorado.

Synonyms
  • Alzadasaurus riggsi was named by Welles (1943). Its type specimen is FMNH 12009, a set of postcrania (sixty vertebrae, both scapulae and both coracoids, the left paddle almost entire, the left pubis, and both ischia and ilia), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Alzada, which is in a Cenomanian marine horizon in the Belle Fourche Formation of Montana.

    It was synonymized subjectively with Thalassomedon hanningtoni by Carpenter (1999).
