Chione (Chione) propinqua was named by Spieker (1922) [DISTRIBUTION: Miocene; Peru, Mexico.]. It is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Chione (Chionopsis) propinqua by Woodring (1982) and Perrilliat (1992).
