Borealosuchus formidabilis
Taxonomy
Leidyosuchus formidabilis was named by Erickson (1976). Its type specimen is SMM P71.16.28, a skull (Complete skull with lower jaw intact except for posterior part of left half), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Wannagan Creek Quarry, which is in a Tiffanian mire/swamp shale/shale in the Bullion Creek Formation of North Dakota.
It was synonymized subjectively with Leidyosuchus riggsi by Lucas and Sullivan (1986); it was recombined as Borealosuchus formidabilis by Brochu (1997), Brochu (2000), Wu et al. (2001), Puértolas et al. (2011), Bronzati et al. (2012) and Sertich and O'Connor (2014).
