Taxonomy
Arca (Scapharca) submontereyana was named by Clark (1918) [DISTRIBUTION: Late Oligocene; Pacific Coast, North America.]. Its type specimen is UCMP 111186, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Anadara (Anadara) mediaimpressa submontereyana by Reinhart (1943); it was recombined as Anadara submontereyana by Addicott (1972); it was recombined as Anadara (Anadara) submontereyana by Addicott (1973) and Moore (1983).
