Taxonomy
Pecten vesiculosus was named by Dunker (1877) [DISTRIBUTION: Pliocene-Recent; North Pacific.]. It is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Aequipecten vesiculosus by Hatai and Nisiyama (1952) and Hayasaka (1973); it was recombined as Chlamys vesiculosa by MacNeil (1965); it was recombined as Cryptopecten vesiculosus by Masuda and Noda (1976).
