Taxonomy
Pecten tehuelchus was named by d'Orbigny (1842) [DISTRIBUTION: Quaternary-Recent; Argentina.]. It is extant.

It was recombined as Pecten (Chlamys) tehuelchus by d'Orbigny (1846) and da Silva Forti (1969); it was recombined as Aequipecten tehuelchus by Clavijo et al. (2005) and Rosenberg (2005).
