Liopleurodon ferox

Taxonomy
Liopleurodon ferox was named by Sauvage (1873). Its type specimen is BMNH R3536, a tooth, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Le Wast, which is in a Callovian marine horizon in the Oxford Clay Formation of France.

It was recombined as Polyptychodon ferox by Sauvage (1880); it was recombined as Pliosaurus ferox by Lydekker (1889), Andrews (1913), Swinton (1934) and Delair (1960).
