Caementodon was named by Heissig (1972). It is not extant.

It was synonymized subjectively with Hispanotherium by Deng (2003).

It was assigned to Elasmotheriini by Antoine and Welcomme (2000); to Elasmotheriinae by Tong (2001); to Elasmotheriina by Antoine et al. (2002), Antoine (2003); and to Iranotheriinae by Guérin and Pickford (2003).
