Taxonomy
Urocythereis californica was named by Hazel (1962). Its type specimen is gUensiversity of Missouri number 0-1220-3, a carapace, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Woodring Loc. 43 - San Pedro [Lomita Marl], which is in a Pleistocene offshore marl in the Lomita Marl Formation of California.
