Knoxiella rutkowskiae was named by Kesling and Chilman (1978) [Types: Holotype, carapace, UMMP 59147; Paratypes: UMMP 59066-67, 59516-20]. It is not extant. Its type specimen is UMMP 59147, a carapace.
