Trionyx miocaenus
Taxonomy
Platypeltis miocaenus was named by Matthew (1924). Its type specimen is AMNH 6298, a carapace, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Trojan Quarry, which is in a Barstovian terrestrial horizon in the Olcott Formation of Nebraska.
It was corrected as Platypeltis miocaena by Hay (1930); it was recombined as Trionyx miocaenus by Vitek and Joyce (2015).
