Taxonomy
Hexanchus wiedenrothi was named by Thies (1983). Its type specimen is SMF 7100, a set of teeth, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Gretenberg, Sehnde, which is in a Pliensbachian marine mudstone in Germany.
