Notochelone costata
Taxonomy
Notochelys costata was named by Owen (1882). Its type specimen is Sydney Museum specimen (cast in BMNH R77), a partial skeleton (imperfect shell with pectoral and limb bones), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Notochelone type, Flinder's River region [PROXY], which is in an Albian marine horizon in Australia. It is the type species of Notochelys.
It was recombined as Notochelone costata by Lydekker (1889), Gaffney (1981), Fordyce (1991), Poropat et al. (2023).
