Taxonomy
Aralotherium was named by Borissiak (1939). Its type is Aralotherium prohorovi.

It was synonymized subjectively with Paraceratherium by Prothero and Schoch (1989).

It was assigned to Perissodactyla by Belyaeva (1948); and to Paraceratheriinae by Qiu and Wang (2007).
