Sister taxa: Jeholornis curvipes, Jeholornis palmapenis
Type specimen: IVPP V13274, a skeleton (nearly completely articulated skeleton). Its type locality is Dapingfang, which is in an Aptian lacustrine mudstone in the Jiufotang Formation of China.
Ecology: ground dwelling carnivore
Distribution: found only at Dapingfang
