Where: Romania (45.5° N, 23.1° E: paleocoordinates 45.5° N, 23.1° E)
• coordinate based on nearby landmark
• outcrop-level geographic resolution
When: Late/Upper Pleistocene (0.1 - 0.0 Ma)
• Mousterian age demonstrated by stone tools. The first excavation provided 24 taxa from 47 specimens, but the stratigraphic origin of only 14 taxa from 21 remains is certain, coming from Mousterian II-IV layers. Therefore the bird assemblage from this cave is treated as "Mousterian fauna" and "Late or Post-Paleolithic fauna" respectively. The second excavation yielded only 3 taxa from 7 remains, all of them coming from Mousterian deposits.
• bed-level stratigraphic resolution
Environment/lithology: cave; siliciclastic sediments
Size class: macrofossils
