Cardiolinka bohemica Community in the Orthoceras Quarry, Praha-Lochkov (Silurian of Czech Republic)

Where: Czech Republic (50.0° N, 14.3° E: paleocoordinates 48.9° S, 55.4° E)

• coordinate based on political unit

• local area-level geographic resolution

When: Monograptus parultimus zone, Pridoli (423.0 - 419.2 Ma)

• group of beds-level stratigraphic resolution

Environment/lithology: marine; shelly/skeletal limestone

• "The limestone occurs just above shallow water limestone with the Cardiola conformis Community. [In general environment similar to that of C. conformis Comm., i.e. shallow, subtidal, with strong currents but protected against strong wave action, but with somewhat weaker currents.] In Bohemia the thin limestone horizon with the Cardiolinka bohemica Comm. forms the highest horizon of biodetrital limestone with cephalopods with occur locall before sedimentation of micrites and calcareous shale starts at the base of the Pridoli."
• "Mostly disarticulated shells occur in biodetrital limestones with relatively common nektobenthic cephalopods."

Collection methods: Because of broad geographic range, list as entered here consists only of taxa explicitly mentioned as coming from the type locality (Table 16.10).
