Turkanapithecus kalakolensis
Taxonomy
Turkanapithecus kalakolensis was named by Leakey and Leakey (1986). Its type specimen is KNM-WK 16950A and B, a partial skull (partial cranium and mandible), and it is not a trace fossil. Its type locality is Kalodirr, west of Lake Turkana, which is in a Burdigalian channel horizon in the Lothidok Formation of Kenya. It is the type species of Turkanapithecus.
