Restes rugosus

Restes rugosus was named by Gauthier (1982) [Exostinus rugosus was named by Gilmore 1942; Gauthier 1982 determined E. rugosus not to be a member of Exostinus and errected a new genus for this species: Restes rugosus.]. It is not extant. Its type specimen is PU 14559. Its type locality is Princeton Quarry, which is in a Tiffanian terrestrial horizon in the Fort Union Formation of Wyoming. It is the type species of Restes.

Synonyms
  • Exostinus rugosus was named by Gilmore (1942). Its type specimen is Princeton Mus. no. 14559, a maxilla (posterior half of right maxillary bearing five teeth), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Princeton Quarry, which is in a Tiffanian terrestrial horizon in the Fort Union Formation of Wyoming.

    It was synonymized objectively with Restes rugosus by Gauthier (1982).
