Vorobjevaia dolonodon
Taxonomy
Vorobjevaia dolonodon was named by Young et al. (1992) [An osteolepiform in which the lower jaw has a posterolateral division of the parasymphysial dental plate reaching the coronoid lamina, a sigmoid dentary tusk twice as long as the coronoid tusks, a rounded dorsal process in front of each coronoid tusk, and the parasymphysial dental plate elevated as a high rounded tuberculate process. The lower jaw is about 4.5 times as long as deep, and deepest posteriorly. ]. Its type specimen is AMF 54328, a mandible (a left lower jaw), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Young et al 1992 Devonian Fish Locality 8, which is in a Givetian marine horizon in the Aztec Silstone Formation of Antarctica.
