Pseudotriconodon was named by Hahn et al. (1984). Its type is Pseudotriconodon wildi.
It was assigned to Dromatheriidae by Hahn et al. (1984) and Hahn et al. (1987); and to Chiniquodontidae by Carroll (1988).

Hahn et al. 1984 | Eine auf isolierte Zähne begründete, zu den Dromatheriidae gestellte Gattung mit folgenden Besonderheiten: Zahn-Umriß lang und schmal, labiale und linguale Seite annähernd parallelseitig begrenzt; Zahn-Länge 1,0-1,5 mm, Zahn-Breite etwa 0,5 mm. Krone mit 1 Haupthöcker und 1-2 vorderen und 1-3 hinteren Nebenhöckern; alle Höcker in einer Längs-Reihe angeordnet, mit scharfen Schneidekanten vorn und hinten; Höhe des Haupthöckers 1,0-1,5 mm, Nebenhöcker höchstens halb so hoch. Cingula weder auf der Lingual-Seite noch auf der Labial-Seite entwickelt. Schelz-Oberfläche glatt. Wurzel etwa 1,25 mal so hoch wie lang und etwa 1,5 mal so hoch wie die Krone, halbelliptisch in Seiten-Ansicht, entweder völlig ungeteilt, andeutungsweise im Bereich der Pulpa-Höhle geteilt oder im Bereich der Wurzel-Spitze völlig zweigeteilt, dann mit kurzer medianer Längs-Furche in dieser Region. Wurzel von der Krone nicht abgesetzt, weder Furche noch Grat im Übergangs-Bereich von der Wurzel zur Krone entwickelt. |
