Diagnosis
ReferenceDiagnosis
C. Oriozabala et al. 2020It belongs to Pleurodira because it has the pelvic girdle sutured to the carapace. It is a long-neck chelid because it has the postzygapophyses of the cervical vertebrae fused in the midline. It belongs to Yaminuechelys based on the large shell with irregular polygons distributed on the dorsal surface, the posterior peripheral bones longer than the anterior ones, and the neural series separated from the suprapygal bone. Yaminuechelys sulcipeculiaris sp. nov. differs from all other species of Yaminuechelys by the position of the sulcus between vertebral 5 and marginal 12 crossing the suprapygal bone and the location of the sulcus between the vertebral 5 and the marginal 11 crossing costal bone 8 and the suprapygal.
