Taxonomy
Alopecognathus megalops was named by Broom (1937). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Abrahamskraal, Prince Albert, which is in a Capitanian floodplain sandstone/claystone in the Abrahamskraal Formation of South Africa.
