Lycaenops ornatus
Taxonomy
Lycaenops ornatus was named by Broom (1925). Its type specimen is AMNH 2240, a skeleton (A compressed skull with lower jaw and most of the postcranial skeleton), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Biesjiespoort, Victoria West, which is in a Wuchiapingian terrestrial horizon in South Africa. It is the type species of Lycaenops.
