Taxonomy
Carlocebus intermedius was named by Fleagle (1990). Its type specimen is MACN-SC 3, a mandible (Left mandible with c-m2), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Portezuelo Sumich Norte, Pinturas Fm., Lago Buenos Aires, which is in a Burdigalian terrestrial volcaniclastic in the Pinturas Formation of Argentina.
