Taxonomy
Chororapithecus abyssinicus was named by Suwa et al. (2007). Its type specimen is CHO-BT 4, a tooth (right upper M2), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Beticha, which is in a MN 9 marine conglomerate in the Chorora Formation of Ethiopia. It is the type species of Chororapithecus.
