Lithology description: C46-49 consists of organic-rich finely laminated mudstones, interbedded with both fissile and bituminous mudstones, shelly oil shale and coccolith rich laminated limestones
Environment:shallow subtidal indet.
Geology comments: "The Quarternary examples used as the basis for our Kimmeridgian depositional model represent deep water oceanic environments, whereas the Kimmeridge Clay was deposited in a shallower shelf regime" (Tyson et al. 1979)
