Lithology and environment
Primary lithology:fine,gray poorly lithified sandstone
Includes fossils?Y
Lithology description: Dinoflagellates studied by El Beialy et al. (2019) were extracted by standard methods, suggesting poorly lithified lithology.
Environment:lagoonal
Geology comments: El Beialy et al. (2019) investigated the Dabaa Formation in the southern Qattara Depression and argued that the palynological assemblages reflect fluctuating conditions on the southern margin of the Tethys/Paratethys Ocean, with the frequent co-occurrence of Homotryblium floripes, Pediastrum and Botryococcus reflecting restricted and probably lagoonal marine environments influenced by seasonal river inflow.
