Lithology and environment
Primary lithology: | muddy,sandy siltstone |
Includes fossils? | Y |
Lithology description: The second facies association is exposed in the middle part of the sequence. The facies is composed of laminated mudstones, siltstone to fine sandstones, and banded siltstones and claystones. Ardolino (in Pascual et al. 2000) suggested that this second facies association was deposited in an estuary, tidal flat or coastal plain environment, influenced by both high freshwater stream flow from the continent and tidal currents from the sea. | |
