Stratigraphy
Stratigraphy comments: Age between Tarkhanian and Konkian (16.2–12.8 Ma) of the Eastern Paratethys, Middle Miocene. According to the map by Semenova & Uskov (1957), the locality represented by a single lithological unit between Urupsky and Otradnaya is dated as early as Tarkhanian, the stratum corresponding to the latest Burdigalian and early Langhian (16.2–15.3 Ma); however, Mchedlidze (1984) broadly dated it by the Middle Miocene without further evidence. No microfossils are associated with the specimen. |
